Drop that shoulder! KoovsXJugni

Continuing on the ongoing cold shoulder craze, here is a simple look you have to try the next time you are stepping out!

Jugni tip: not a good idea to go dancing in an off shoulder top, as the elastic slides up each time your arms move to do your moves! *NotGoodBro*

Besides that tiny winy little glitch, here is our first ever tie up with Koovs! *yayy* Also, I seriously believe only super stylish people wear Koovs, I find their stuff super cool you must check it out if you haven’t already! This summer also is about investing in white denims! The summery-spring-y-floral tops and hyper colours are best when paired with a classic white pair!

I got my hands on the most epic fit from Zara. Although, I do think that lighter coloured bottoms do make my thighs appear broader, the length of the tops you wear the changes the game completely. So choose smart. My sling bag holds just the essentials and went effortlessly with the look, also the reflectors from Anjuna, Goa added swag!

An absolute must try are the jump in shoes, which are comfy enough to keep you running in all day at the mall or amidst your errands. I love the little bling which I teamed with my cute-sy two finger ring.

Did you see? Do you like? Won’t you try?

Love my triple studs from H&M, they go with absolutely anything and everything, and just validate having 3 ear piercings no?

Tee-Series: Styling a round neck t-shirt, again.

Taking cue from our last post in the same series that you can read here; I am still obsessing over the 3 uber cool doodled t-shirts that I got designed by The Filmy owl (Angel Bedi) from PosterGully.com

I was absolutely overwhelmed when so many of you sent me photos wearing the same t-shirts! Yay, blogger feel. Keeping the core thought the same, we cannot do with them can’t do without. Round neck basic t-shirts or chest print t-shirts are not just to work out or sleep in, they need to be worn out. You need to surprise yourself at how stylish you can make this wardrobe staple look. Watch and learn 😛

_DSC7577 _DSC7561 _DSC7547

It’s not difficult to understand when you add crisp white denims and heeled footwear you are definitely going strong on your style game. I have worn the same t-shirt with shorts as well as harem pants and I swear the whole look becomes unique with different shoes and pants. Also, makeup and accessories. The bag, shoes, red lips, earrings all add up to this look and makes it wearable to a dinner or evening wear.

The Zara neckpiece and the striped skirt made me brunch ready, I could even go to a meeting looking like this. Would’nt you want to try?_DSC7636 _DSC7619

My Chumbak bag kept the look casual and chic, also flats for the win. So comfortable, I can shop all day sporting this look._DSC7615 _DSC7657

No style is fully complete without stunning glares and your signature pose. What are you waiting for, re-use those favourite t-shirts and send us some more tips to do the same! Stay Jugni.

Monsoon Gloom to Glam!

“Fashion is about dreaming, and making other people dream.”

Such inspiring words to read on a monday, nai? Whenever i start to feel a little worthless, i read these random quotes on pinterest, though the effects are not long lasting, temporarily they lift me up! have you ever tried? This post is another effort to help you dream a little dream to be a glam diva!

That is exactly how I felt, with a new photographer and a full fledged hi-fashion shoot. Hair, make up, lights et al. We’ve tried to level up this post onwards doing better pictures not just for Jugni & Co. but to make you dream of this glam feeling, ok i know i said that before, but you get the excitement right? Monsoon on most days gets to me, makes me gloomy, makes me worry about my frizzy hair and being unable to wear long gowns and sexy heels. ‘Gloom to Glam’ was inspired from that feeling.

So what do you do when the baarish is not filmy and pretty, it is sad and makes you stay indoors all the time? You lift yourself up, with fashion quotes, vogue, and extra doses of caffeine. Shown below are too simple looks, that i am pretty sure you have in your wardrobe. These dresses are basic, but the make up is grand! With our hair and makeup specialist Saba Poonawala (follow her on instagram!), She made me understand that any look can be glammed up with the right kind of make up. so pay close attention to monsoon special makeup trends!

Monsoon make-up tips:

  1. Stay clear from liquid foundations, stick to powder press compacts or go ahead and invest in this magical product that I swear by. The MAC studio fix. It has never failed me, gives enough coverage and keeps me photo ready always!
  2. Try a Dia Mirza inspired dewy-dreamy look, use a little shimmer-mineralise powder all over the face, highlight your cheekbones with a light pink/peach shimmer highlighter like the one i use. Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer brick, it’s a little expensive but so pretty! As seen in the first look.
  3. If the au natural look is not your type, do a nice bold liner like the deep blue used in look 2 below, and super bright lips. Bright pink or a bold red rarely does any harm to anyone. Nude lips, might just look more gloomy if not paired with the right outfit and eyes. Bright lips always add that happy zest to your face and the over all look.
  4. When it’s about lining and accentuating the eyes, waterproof picks are a no-brainer. But these formulations have chemicals that dry the lashes and sensitive skin on the eyelids. To maintain the resilience of your lashes first coat them with a volumising or lengthening mascara. Build it up by topping with waterproof mascara. When it comes to liners, for a flawless matte finish, go for a felt-pen liner or a gel liner verses a pencil that’s cream-based. It dries quickly and stays put.
  5. Final tip: Seal in your look with a make up fixer, the one from MAC is amazing!

How to repeat a dress, guilt free & stylishly

Apart from working on my Forever 21 sale haul, this post is going to help you with easy style hacks to wear your favourite dress to death.

We’re all guilty of owning a dress that we just cannot get enough of, to a club, to a brunch, to college, to office, even to bed if we could. This dress is your turn to whatever the occasion maybe. Having said that, I was delighted to find this easy-peasy casual dress at the recent F21 monsoon sale. Priced at only INR 500 (after discount) I didn’t see a reason for me not to buy it, infact i almost picked two. OK. Enough rambling, getting to the point. Working on this post made me realise the power of layering and accessories. So simple, and how unthankful we are to all the things that can completely turn around a look from elegant lady to school-girl.

Here are FIVE ways to repeat a basic dress, guilt free and stylishly.

1. Add on: A printed cape.

Printed capes are big right now, wear a pair of shorts and a tshirt and throw on a floor length printed cape, wear it on a dress or even a short cape on a maxi dress. So pretty, you have to try it. And the tassels just got me on this one!

2. Add on: A light shirt.

So honestly i just loved this shirt, but it doesn’t fit me. I mean the buttons just won’t shut, so instead of giving it a slow death at the back of my wardrobe, here’s what i did. Threw it on, and voila, look so pretty, let down or tied-up. It adds so much character to the dress, with the right bag i could wear it anywhere i like.

DSC_0043

DSC_0064 DSC_0054

3. Add on: A Backpack.

Dressing down an outfit is my favourite task. Took-over this checkered backpack from my kid sister’s wardrobe. Duh. Elder sisters give you no choice. Also laid my hands on cutesy tiara print socks and monochrome shoes to go with the bag. And the minion sipper just felt so right. Ideal for a picnic this look just took me back to teenage.

DSC_0107 DSC_0112

DSC_0131

Also notice how the bag drops and I go from full school girl to tuition girl swag. C’mon you know you opened your hair, pulled down your socks and threw the bag on one shoulder when you went to classes! Especially girls school. *ahem*

DSC_0138

4. Add on: A lace-y cape.

Taking the whole look to date night level was my borrowed lace-cape and suede heels. The black made just a drastic contrast to the dress, that it helped me up the look to an almost formal level. Heels also took the casual-ness of the dress out of the picture.

Ready for derby 😛

5. Add on: Jeggings.

Nobody remembers a dress worn as a top worn as a dress! You get it, confuse them by wearing it as a tunic top on skinny jeans or jeggings. Drape a scarf to make the top also look a little detailed, you could also wear a statement neckpiece, here i have worn my cape as a scarf and it works perfectly thanks to the tassels. Hai na simple? Try toh karo, your wardrobe is full of surprises and you don’t even know it.

Comfortable Fashion #FTW

You know how most days are torn between correct postures, mild smiles, behaved mannerisms, crisp clothes and slouching shoulders, loud disturbing laughter with snorts, t-shirts and shorts. I’m pretty sure we’d all love the second part.

On days with back to back meetings or running errands, sometimes the most rewarding feeling is to get into a t-shirt later and chill. So I believe clothes have this magical power to transform your mood and how you feel. Like when I put on a blazer I feel like a powerful person, and when I wear a LBD i feel sexy, so when I put on a t-shirt/ casual top i feel comfortable and at ease.

Keeping that in mind I was on a hunt to find a t-shirt/ top that just kept me feeling at ease. Quite predictably it ended at Forever 21. I found the ideal top, one I went out drinking in, one I met a prospective client for coffee in and one that I can spend all day in cause of that ultra comfy fit. So who would ever think a baggy top like this one can look so chic?

I suggest you hunt these tight sleeved lose bodied tops and haul them for all seasons, they are cute and snuggly and elegant and stylish. Yeh roz nahi hota. You can style this as per where you are going to be wearing it, tuck it in with shorts or palazzos and make them uber casual. Wear it with skinny fit pants or jeggings for semi formal look. Go for block heels that are so in right now just like the ones in the pictures, or even pretty blingy ballerinas for that cute girly feel. Change the make up accordingly to make it casual or formal. Do multiple things with one piece of clothing, you’ll feel good and be able to shop more confidently too.

Jugni's Take

Shoes your wardrobe is begging for! #JugniFinds

Before the international brands came in, before the malls raided our pockets, before we could walk in to a hundred stores to buy one thing; there was one market, one store and one fixed place for all things we needed here in Pune.

Cakes at Kayani, Grocery at Chandan, Sandwiches at Marzorin, and shoes at ABBA. Abba (like the music band) has been the jewel on main street for over 20 years. Walking into this store will never be less than a memorable experience, friendly staff, great service and almost always available footwear; the kind you’ll like and the kind which fits like a dream!

Having a foot size of UK 41, it’s been a nightmare for me to buy shoes that I actually like and not a compromise because of my size requirement. Abba has been my one stop for heels, flats, ballerinas, chappals and formal shoes too. I did go to all the crazy expensive brands and the malls where I was not just disappointed with the lack of attention I got, but also, rarely got my size anyway.

All in all, if you need someone who is as passionate about shoes as yourself, meet the owners of Abba! They don’t have fancy salesmen or floor managers but they sell what they create with so much love and passion that you won’t be able to not see it! The variety is good, the range is oh-so-affordable, and you’ll get a shoe here that fits every occasion; meetings, parties, dailies or even gifting. Its all at Abba.

In our Jugni collaboration we had the chance to meet up with the New Zealand return shoe expert Mr. Zaheer Tejani and his wonderful mum who lovingly run the store and offered us dreamy shoes sole by sole.

We are showcasing different pairs on the blog, click on the image to read more about the look, outfit details and styling tips for these gorgeous shoes!

Block heels: Comfortable for long days at the mall or while out roaming around a different city, also perfect to drive around or chill somewhere with your girls. (P.S: these are super in right now)DSC_0050

Jugni's Take

Bean There.

#PuneCoffeeHunt

What started out with a random excuse to drink up more coffee, got me addicted to keep trying more and more places to settle my greed for the best coffee in town. No I don’t mean the best place, i mean the yummiest coffee. For those who share similar caffeine love will understand how important it is to find the perfect cup. It changes your mood, lifts you up, makes you happy and hell it makes me want to put up with a sometimes miserable life for yet another day!

Coffee is like love, once you got it can’t live without it. If it wouldn’t have been for my then room-mate to get me hooked on to coffee to stay up and study or to simply pep up crazy busy times in Mumbai, i would have missed on this whole new world i see and feel with my perfectly foamy strong dose of caffeine. Ideal for starting conversations, long catch up sessions, first dates..coffee is also the best thing to do when you are alone, lost in some soul searching!

Keeping up with all that drama behind a simple cup of coffee, I set out on an unending #CoffeeHunt in Pune. Sharing few thoughts below for those who cannot wait to test them all out and jump to the first awesome cup they see!

FullSizeRender 6

Starbucks, KP

Ofcourse, waiting lines and most hyped international coffee chain had to be on this list.  I find Starbucks coffees, more like desserts or full fledged smoothie or beverages rather than pure simple coffee. Even their basic cappuccino is super milky, hence their Americano or their French Pressed Coffee is my go-to. You can feel the amazing roast in the coffee bean in every sip and an add milk as per your taste. If you would like to go for something simpler, try a Double Shot Hazelnut Cappuccino. With no extra sugar needed, its flavoured coffee that is the best pick of the lot on regular days. Also walking in to office with a large Starbucks cup made me feel like such a busy bee and oh-so-chic! What do you think?

IMG_7986

Flourworks, Kalyaninagar

I am a hopeless Flourworks addict, for weekend after weekend i have had breakfast meets with my girls here, it is the most home-like place for me now, for late nights or even mid-day meals! This time I tried Cafe L’orange, which is a perfect blend of strong black coffee mixed with cocoa and infused with orange zest. It tastes so comfortingly different you’ll wish why no other place serves you this cup of awesomeness!

IMG_8038

Flourworks, Kalyaninagar

Yet another morning at Flourworks began with a 5 spice Cafe Latte. Milder coffee, strongly flavoured with a spicy after taste that lingers on long after you have finished your cup. A must try. I’ve heard it’s available in some other cafes too, adding it to my list!

IMG_8063

French Window Patisserie, KP

When you get into the coffee addict category a simple cup doesn’t really cut it for you, I was pleasantly surprised when my simple order of a Double shot Cappuccino was just perfect. Strong and soothing all at once. The cosiest coffee place in town with a cup that i urge you to try, next time you are loafing around on south main French Window Patisserie is the place to be!

IMG_8180

Sweet Chariot Cafe, VimanNagar

For hours of catching up and making new plans, we needed a strong cup to go on. Open even around midnight Sweet Chariot Cafe surprised us with such a yum Double Shot Cappuccino. And since you are going there, do not miss the Sweet Chariot Special Chocolate pastry, it is to die for!

Cafe Columbia, Kalyani Nagar Pune

Cafe Columbia, Kalyani Nagar Pune

Cafe Columbia. The visits here must have jumped up after the shot of Varun and Yami in Badlapur. If you can ignore the slow and unattentive service you can try their cup of coffee, their double shot cappuccino turned out to feel so strong that i could barely feel the milk! Maybe a basic coffee or their columbian specialties would have been a better choice here.

Cafe Peter Donuts, Deccan

Cafe Peter Donuts, Deccan

With India winning the match against Pakistan i was in a fun experimental mood that day at Cafe Peter Donuts, Tried the Turkish cappuccino which is roasted ground coffee infused with rose flavour, this one was a sweet surprise but wasn’t as radically different as I would like it to be.

Special Mention:

Frozen Hot Chocolate, German Bakery, KP

For those days when coffee is not working, you need to go for the Frozen Hot Chocolate at German Bakery. It is the definition of the perfect chocolate thick shake. So yum, so blissful that you will not be able to think about the calories or sharing this with your BFF.

Coffee is my answer, whatever be the problem. It is a comforter, a stimulant, a wake up call too. It is what we bond over, what we can’t get enough of and what calms us down to not kill a few people 😛 Don’t you think so? Do let us know a place you would like us to check out, have you been to these places too? tell us in comments below!

Almost 2 years ago we did this coffee post that is too cute to be missed! Also we are social (obviously), find us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter #JugniAndCo

Till then, Stay Caffeinated, Stay Jugni. Why don’t you call me over for coffee next time?
