The top 3 Desi Looks you need to add to your wardrobe, If you haven’t already.

You can do denims, skirts and dresses but nothing slays like an authentic Indian/ traditional look. Whether you’re the only one going design in college or adapting these into a routine family gathering, these are the 3 must have looks you need to try asap!

Kurta- Pallazzos

If you haven’t guessed it yet, I am obsessed with palazzo pants, they make me look taller and give me a feeling of being the most elegantly dressed when in a crowd! The trend started early 2015 and looks like it’s here to stay. Mix and match with interesting prints and colours to create different looks. They are so comfortable and effortlessly stylishly you might consider ditching all other forms of bottoms completely!

Patiala Salwar:

Nothing says casual desi like patiala suits, they define easy, functional style to me. Especially after Tanu weds Manu, I see myself turning to a patiala suit more often than not these days.

Jugni Tip: You need to find the right tailor to give you a real patiala salwar, it’s not as easy as it looks to have those perfect pleats in a hot fit, you might have to struggle with a few trials. But I suggest don’t settle till you feel full punjabi kuddie. Also, preferably get one from the north! I got this beautiful fabric from Ahmedabad for as less as INR 90 per metre and the short fitted kurta made me feel like Alia Bhatt from Humpty Sharma! If you don’t have this set in your wardrobe you are certainly missing out on a classic.

Kurti- Leggings

This is a cheat salwar kameez, or a chudidar kurta’s modernised version. It’s available everywhere you go and is so easy to carry. All the big brands have made multiple styles of kurtas ready to buy for us. From the A-lines, to the straight fits, the asymmetrical to a simple slit one like this they can all add interesting elements in your wardrobe. The gungroo on this kurta made me buy it without a second thought, also, the chudidar sleeves are so pretty nai?

Jugni Tip: Since leggings are skin tight, the length of the kurta should be below knee length or it can look weird, also colours like beige or skin tone for a legging will make it look like you aren’t wearing any, so be careful!

The not so routine- everyday look you must try! #WrapThat

I’m pretty confident that all you girlies have a printed wrap around skirt in that wardrobe. Either you received it as a gift, or bought it at a fair or just ordered one cause you felt that you could rock this look.

Well, if you have been struggling what to team it with just like I was, I decided to go dead-basic. T-shits just about fit into any look, you can layer the look with a long cape, you could even wear the skirt with a nice plain kurta. The options are endless, here is one such option that you can easily carry to your next work day or college too.

Wrap around skirts tend to suit most body types, they are easy to wear and really comfortable if you have to run errands all day. Adding desi accessories and kolhapuri chappals added an interesting blend to the look for the day. Go ahead and #WrapThat

Als, i wore the same skirt with a plain white tee while on a vacation with family, find a bonus picture with my Mumma ji below.

Tell me how you like such basic looks, should we do more?

#TrendAlert. Did you know about maxi tops? Move over maxi dresses!

I love fashion and there is no easier way to express yourself than through the clothes you wear.
-Victoria Justice

For some random reason I felt like some kind of royalty in this outfit, the elegance, the length, the way it swayed with the wind and how it made my red lips pop out beautifully! You know how we all have this simple outfit that we feel like a total princess in, this maxi slit out top did just that to me!

If the Maxi dresses craze was not enough, see some here & here. Here come the maxi tops, pair them with shorts, jeggings, palazzo pants or even a maxi skirt and somehow they will team up beautifully. Maxi tops just like the one I am wearing can be seen on this website!

Also known as slit-outs, these are known to give you the illusion of a taller leaner body and also make you want to twirl around whenever you can 😛 Shooting at sunrise gave us the perfect light to enhance the outfit as well as, oh, me! It’s been such a fun post this one, I am thinking of putting together many more outfits that make me feel a little more royal, a little more princessy than the daily deal! Would you like that too? Would you tell me your easy-peasy style tips that make you a princess?

Also, this seems to be the ideal option for a pool party, a brunch day, or even a day out with family since you can cover the slit up easily and pull it off as a dress! you can buy it from here!

Pairing white shorts came as a natural choice, the turquoise blue earrings and ditto shoes went just like hand in glove and also added a different colour element to the look. Try and do that when you put together a look, break it with a different colour, justify the colour by teaming a bag or shoes of the same family.

The jeggings were safer but looked equally great, the red bag helped break the monotony of all that print. And red lips, you may ask, well they never let me down. Pair them with sexy heels and wear it out in the night too. Try kariye!

How to repeat a dress, guilt free & stylishly

Apart from working on my Forever 21 sale haul, this post is going to help you with easy style hacks to wear your favourite dress to death.

We’re all guilty of owning a dress that we just cannot get enough of, to a club, to a brunch, to college, to office, even to bed if we could. This dress is your turn to whatever the occasion maybe. Having said that, I was delighted to find this easy-peasy casual dress at the recent F21 monsoon sale. Priced at only INR 500 (after discount) I didn’t see a reason for me not to buy it, infact i almost picked two. OK. Enough rambling, getting to the point. Working on this post made me realise the power of layering and accessories. So simple, and how unthankful we are to all the things that can completely turn around a look from elegant lady to school-girl.

Here are FIVE ways to repeat a basic dress, guilt free and stylishly.

1. Add on: A printed cape.

Printed capes are big right now, wear a pair of shorts and a tshirt and throw on a floor length printed cape, wear it on a dress or even a short cape on a maxi dress. So pretty, you have to try it. And the tassels just got me on this one!

2. Add on: A light shirt.

So honestly i just loved this shirt, but it doesn’t fit me. I mean the buttons just won’t shut, so instead of giving it a slow death at the back of my wardrobe, here’s what i did. Threw it on, and voila, look so pretty, let down or tied-up. It adds so much character to the dress, with the right bag i could wear it anywhere i like.

3. Add on: A Backpack.

Dressing down an outfit is my favourite task. Took-over this checkered backpack from my kid sister’s wardrobe. Duh. Elder sisters give you no choice. Also laid my hands on cutesy tiara print socks and monochrome shoes to go with the bag. And the minion sipper just felt so right. Ideal for a picnic this look just took me back to teenage.

Also notice how the bag drops and I go from full school girl to tuition girl swag. C’mon you know you opened your hair, pulled down your socks and threw the bag on one shoulder when you went to classes! Especially girls school. *ahem*

4. Add on: A lace-y cape.

Taking the whole look to date night level was my borrowed lace-cape and suede heels. The black made just a drastic contrast to the dress, that it helped me up the look to an almost formal level. Heels also took the casual-ness of the dress out of the picture.

Ready for derby 😛

5. Add on: Jeggings.

Nobody remembers a dress worn as a top worn as a dress! You get it, confuse them by wearing it as a tunic top on skinny jeans or jeggings. Drape a scarf to make the top also look a little detailed, you could also wear a statement neckpiece, here i have worn my cape as a scarf and it works perfectly thanks to the tassels. Hai na simple? Try toh karo, your wardrobe is full of surprises and you don’t even know it.

Comfortable Fashion #FTW

You know how most days are torn between correct postures, mild smiles, behaved mannerisms, crisp clothes and slouching shoulders, loud disturbing laughter with snorts, t-shirts and shorts. I’m pretty sure we’d all love the second part.

On days with back to back meetings or running errands, sometimes the most rewarding feeling is to get into a t-shirt later and chill. So I believe clothes have this magical power to transform your mood and how you feel. Like when I put on a blazer I feel like a powerful person, and when I wear a LBD i feel sexy, so when I put on a t-shirt/ casual top i feel comfortable and at ease.

Keeping that in mind I was on a hunt to find a t-shirt/ top that just kept me feeling at ease. Quite predictably it ended at Forever 21. I found the ideal top, one I went out drinking in, one I met a prospective client for coffee in and one that I can spend all day in cause of that ultra comfy fit. So who would ever think a baggy top like this one can look so chic?

I suggest you hunt these tight sleeved lose bodied tops and haul them for all seasons, they are cute and snuggly and elegant and stylish. Yeh roz nahi hota. You can style this as per where you are going to be wearing it, tuck it in with shorts or palazzos and make them uber casual. Wear it with skinny fit pants or jeggings for semi formal look. Go for block heels that are so in right now just like the ones in the pictures, or even pretty blingy ballerinas for that cute girly feel. Change the make up accordingly to make it casual or formal. Do multiple things with one piece of clothing, you’ll feel good and be able to shop more confidently too.

Summer Blues.

The heat is killing this time around. If Pune has gotten so bad, can’t imagine how Delhi and Bombay are doing. If you are cooped up at home or stuck in office waiting for the sun-time to pass, this post is for you! If you are too shy to step out or too careful about your skin, this post is for you. You can’t keep sitting in till sunset. Doesn’t that make you feel like an owl? You need to not let anything bring down that spark. So put on some lipstick and let’s hustle.

There are days when you only want to stay in bed, but I say we should save those days for monsoons or when your lover is in the mood for some mush time! 😛 Till then, pass the peak heat hour in a mall or a movie if that’s what it takes, but get out! Ideally it is the perfect season to be out and about. Plan a vacation, go swimming, stay outdoors and soak it all in.

My stint with freelance projects and full-time blogging is fairly new, and that kind of forces me to stay in pyjamas all day! Jugni is so not ok with that, need to get up-dress up-show up. With meetings happening off and on I needed to put together an easy look which can be considered formal enough for a client meeting and chic enough for just about anything else after that.

Summer, of a kind that bans me from exiting an air conditioned zone, is giving me the blues. A mood which makes me feel like i’m on a downward spiral. I had to pull myself out of this, and what better way than getting dolled up and shooting?! So here’s a pool blue bright top, with hot pink lips, well fitted denims and a dressy pair of shoes that makes me feel ready for any occasion any location. Kill the sun’s harmful rays with a full sleeve top, keep the fabric light and breezy, wear a cotton singlet inside, read more about which sunscreen you need to have HERE.

Chasing Dreams

“If you can dream it, you can do it.” Are you trying to say, that if i dream of becoming Miss India while I weigh 85kilos I can actually do it? or are you trying to say that if I dream about a lake palace wedding in Udaipur in which the guests are flown down in chartered choppers, that I can actually make it happen? No? Then how about those dreams where I am swimming in a pool of money with Uncle Scrooge from duck tales! No?

They say If you can dream it, you CAN achieve it. Keyword being “you can” and you only step closer to your dreams if you work towards it. Maybe all our dreams are achievable, yes even the silly ones only if we start working towards them. Some dreams can be simple, like living a happy life, having a family and I have seen people achieve it, by spreading good vibes taking in good vibes, staying happy and always keeping faith. Some dreams are more like measurable tasks, and we see people achieve them all the time, from promotions to money to weight loss to modelling assignments. Dreams can also be the want of a deep feeling, a feeling of contentment when you are expecting a baby and waiting for a new life, a feeling of completeness when you see your child succeeding at work or in life, and smaller realisations which we receive in moments like when a full family dines together and laughs and shares stories!

Meeting old friends, making new ones, planning trips and actually taking them. Praying, breathing and acknowledging that what you want, the world does bring it to you. And if you try hard you’ll get it sooner than you might have thought. Dreams have such a power, like hope. They keep you going, no matter what. One such dream is Jugni & Co, building it post by post and sharing good vibes is what makes us feel like If we can dream it, we can achieve it.

Since i had these dreamy ramblings running through my head all week, we did this outfit, with bolder eyes and a supremely cute headgear. Hope you like it!

DSC_0200 DSC_0158

By the way, it’s always been a big fantasy to shoot on the railway tracks, one dream off the list then 😛 Also a shouting train came right when i was trying to be all sexy while posing, it was so much fun we had a great laugh too! can you see it?

DSC_0102 DSC_0096 DSC_0094 DSC_0131An outfit like this one is ideal for a music festival, flea market, even a beach if you please! Its the kinds that will make you feel so-pretty and girly all at once. Also i think this whole headgear trend is here for girls like us who just need an excuse to dress up and feel good!

DSC_0180You can play around with tribal/ boho accessories to go with a flowy skirt like this one, even a black t-shirt or a crop top would look great depending on what you feel more comfortable in!

I have used three shades on my eyes, turquoise, deep blue and gold with loads of mascara and kajal to add depth to the eyes, The boho chi look is incomplete without let down hair, so don’t bother about it and love them just the way they are. No styling required.
