One dress four ways. Easy tips for effortless style!

It’s a horrible thing we have started doing, this whole Instagramming and snap chatting OOTD pictures. It adds layers of doubt in the decision to wear an outfit again!

If it has a picture taken and uploaded somewhere, I tend to let the picture do it’s social media time and more before even considering wearing it again, and when I do, it must be with a completely different audience.

In all that self-created drama, let’s look at wearing a simple maxi dress repeatedly and stylishly! If you have a plain dress you know you can do oh-so-much with it, but here is a dress I love and the print is quite unique which not only makes it amazing but also makes it so difficult to repeat!

Layering is everything:

No rocket science there, throwing on a shrug or a jacket you know will change the look drastically. These days girls are wearing t-shirts over maxi dresses and using the dress as skirts, go figure! And, I was hesitating to put on a sweatshirt over my dress even while freezing. Hmm. Jugni issues. Layering makes styling an outfit easy, play with lengths, fabrics, styles too.

Added a simple cotton shirt and tied it up at the waist, very art-class look feels nai?

The big messy hair is all thanks to our ever so unpredictable monsoon weather. yes, I’m kind of Monica Geller-ish with my hair when it gets humid. IMG_3032-Edit

Keeping the accessories same, I tried a dress on dress. Denim over a cotton maxi might sound off but actually looked pretty cool. It not only changed the look of my maxi but also allowed me to wear my denim dress again. See the denim dress post here.

How about a semi-formal jacket? Spunk up your maxi dress look with a full close button up or zip up jacket and change your look completely!

Jewellery is everything! While trying to establish a particular look, the accessories you pair together really adds up to your look. I tried two different themes with dull gold and oxidised silver too. Keeping in mind the print of the maxi dress with those little coins can be turned into something ethnic, I liked how it added up. Do you?

Hope you could get some ideas on how to style your favourite dresses by just mix-matching elements from your already infinite wardrobe! Unless you are Sonam Kapoor then all this is kinda not needed bro, cause you got it all in your walk in (apartment size) closet.

Sunshine Girl: Should you invest in a bold coloured long dress? #HellYes

Whoever said we need to stick to basic colours for flowy dresses was completely wrong. Highly inspired from Sonam Kapoor’s NYE dress is my boat neck yellow wonder.

Although I haven’t worn it out yet, I’m hoping to inaugurate this one soon enough. In my head, I am IIFA green carpet ready, for a swanky brand launch, or even a bloggers event; obviously for family events and weddings too.

The bold statement that you will make by sporting a colour like this exudes confidence, poise and style like no one else around you. Don’t hesitate carrying this outfit in the day or night, all that matters is how you carry yourself. Believe and shine on firefly.

Okay, maybe only the colour is Sonam inspired. Cause, real life problems is not a thing for her. But, wearing a gown like dress in a colour like this is a first time for me. And I am thrilled to have invested in it!

Kept the shoes nude, you musn’t want to add another colour to something already so bright and happy.

Mandatory poses while wearing something long and flowy. #PrincessFeels

You’ll be surprised to know how cheap the fabric cost is, go hunt a pretty colour in any fabric that promises a great fall and get this made. Also you can hunt for something similar in the malls. Dekhlo bhai. IMG_0426-1

I love it, don’t you? Tell me what sort of looks and posts you’d like us to work on,

Flower Power.

Did you know, ‘flower power’ was a term coined as a means to transform war protests into peaceful affirmative spectacles. Hippies embraced the symbolism by dressing in clothing with embroidered flowers and vibrant colors, wearing flowers in their hair, and distributing flowers to the public, becoming known as flower children

Overall exuberates a lot of power with a strong non-violent ideology. The trend became huge in the late 1960s and the 70’s fashion wave is all about florals! The best part about such clutter breaking trends is the way they make their way back into our lives. 2015 has been seeing a lot of the 70’s vibe. From our very own baba sporting the floral trend to all over the runways, though trends like these take time to trickle down to the aam janta like you and me, it’s here and it looks like it is here to stay.

The floral trend helps in adding a little elegant spunk to any attire, (indian as well as western outfits) be it the little flower tiara or fresh flower bracelets that we see on mehndi functions at weddings. Florals are not just for spring, they are an all time hit now! Short printed dresses look adorable on any day, and then there is the maxi floral which I just cannot seem to get enough of!

Take dresses like these to the next level, with sharp makeup, sky high heels and an attitude that will make everyone stop and take notice when you walk in looking like a million bucks!

Also, don’t forget that the flower power still symbolises so much history that you must feel like you are embodying a movement, a rebellion of sorts. For freedom, beauty and your own right to kill with cuteness! Go, be a gulaabo. #shaandaar #idea

#TrendAlert. Did you know about maxi tops? Move over maxi dresses!

I love fashion and there is no easier way to express yourself than through the clothes you wear.
-Victoria Justice

For some random reason I felt like some kind of royalty in this outfit, the elegance, the length, the way it swayed with the wind and how it made my red lips pop out beautifully! You know how we all have this simple outfit that we feel like a total princess in, this maxi slit out top did just that to me!

If the Maxi dresses craze was not enough, see some here & here. Here come the maxi tops, pair them with shorts, jeggings, palazzo pants or even a maxi skirt and somehow they will team up beautifully. Maxi tops just like the one I am wearing can be seen on this website!

Also known as slit-outs, these are known to give you the illusion of a taller leaner body and also make you want to twirl around whenever you can 😛 Shooting at sunrise gave us the perfect light to enhance the outfit as well as, oh, me! It’s been such a fun post this one, I am thinking of putting together many more outfits that make me feel a little more royal, a little more princessy than the daily deal! Would you like that too? Would you tell me your easy-peasy style tips that make you a princess?

Also, this seems to be the ideal option for a pool party, a brunch day, or even a day out with family since you can cover the slit up easily and pull it off as a dress! you can buy it from here!

Pairing white shorts came as a natural choice, the turquoise blue earrings and ditto shoes went just like hand in glove and also added a different colour element to the look. Try and do that when you put together a look, break it with a different colour, justify the colour by teaming a bag or shoes of the same family.

The jeggings were safer but looked equally great, the red bag helped break the monotony of all that print. And red lips, you may ask, well they never let me down. Pair them with sexy heels and wear it out in the night too. Try kariye!

All the Maxi-mising you’ll need this summer – Part Trois.

If you haven’t caught on to the maxi dress trend you are running pretty late in the trend game my friend! With random bouts of rainfall and hailstones, summers will be gone before you know it, and you don’t want to miss these gorgeous sunny days where you can flaunt your flowy dresses do you?

In the last of our Maxi-Mising series we are talking about a formal dress, easily available in many leading brands this is an elegant choice for a date night or even a clubbing scene with your group. The snow white is a breather in this weather and it helps you even stay cool as white is known to not attract heat unlike black or darker shades. You must check out the other maxi dresses we styled here and here. Also i think sheer dresses are so sexy without being vulgar, don’t you think?

Maxi-mising – Part Deux.

If you are the kind who thinks that the maxi dress is not for you, this post is dedicated to you. You think you are too short, the maxi makes you look taller. You think you are too curvaceous, the maxi flows and falls so perfectly on your curves that you’ll be surprised at your reflection in the mirror! you think it’s too dressy, well you’ll never know where all you can wear the same dress, dressy or not it’s guaranteed sexy.

The summers are here only another a month or so, before the monsoon rains all over your floor lengths, pull them out of those closets and flaunt away.

Here’s a dress which i just cannot stop bragging about. It’s thrifted. It’s the perfect green. You know the exact shade of green like ” The girl in the green scarf” from ‘Confessions of a shopaholic’ and it spoke to me, I had to buy it or it would haunt me forever. It’s supposedly from a brand call Vinegar, none the less it made my haircut look more expensive and my collar bones shone out like sun-rays. In a club it would be a total head turner. What do you say fellow Jugni?

A simple tube dress, a little aztec, and the classic Ruby Woo from MAC cosmetics. Team it with basic black shiny flats and an easy black sling bag.DSC_0121 DSC_0144 DSC_0146 DSC_0147 DSC_0150Also, I was a little under the weather while we shot this, sorry for the not great pictures, in compensation here’s how the dress can be worn outdoors 😛

Are you waiting for the next Maxi-Mising post already? Tell me, tell me?

Come summer and all we need to hoard up on are maxi-midi-skirts & dresses! Wondering how to transform the runway to everyday? Here’s how to bring the trends to your routine. Over the next few days we’re gonna show you some really pretty, flowy, maxi (floor length/ankle length) dresses. These are the kinds I think you should wear to every outing you have planned in the next few weeks.

And by every outing I literally mean, brunches, sundowners, beaches, dinners and parties! Just know how to pick them occasion wise and play around with the accessories to dress it up or down!

Although the maxi dress has been a long running summer trend, this year we are seeing styles with full, flowy skirts, adding that peekaboo elements are also trendy. Cut-outs at the waist and back are not only sexy, but can accentuate your best features and give the illusion of a longer, leaner silhouette. Look taller all the way!

The Beach-Please maxi! This dress has never failed me, those days I feel ugly I put this on to feel pretty 😛 those days I want to look effortlessly sexy I put this on. Its easy-peasy & breazzyyy. Wear it with wedges, flats or even oshos depending where you want to go with it.

I was craving Goa while posing in this so I just imagined that i was at the beach and carried a huge jhola, wore oshos, put on my Ruby woo with my messy hair and posed!

DSC_0093 DSC_0103 DSC_0118IMG_9245Almost a year ago I wore this dress while exploring Udaipur, still can’t get over the dreamy feeling. Don’t throw away dresses, re-invent, repeat, and keep falling in love with yourself.

We’re working on presenting a maxi series, so watch this space everyday for more maxi-mising options! Stay Jugni!

Happy Summer <3
