Beauty treatments that actually work! @BeautyWorks, Pune.

To be honest, I never really have got a proper facial done. Clean-ups and home DIY packs are more my thing. But when The Beauty Works approached me with the almost magic like treatments I just had to know more!

Coming from a household of malai-lagalo beta, and a Mum who’s skin is so blessed, we’ve by default been away from the botox & fillers and injections of the skin world. The Beauty Works’ owners and doctors sat me done and cleared my misconceptions about these topics. Like you don’t always need a facelift, and injection, a botox or a face surgery to look a certain way. Regular care and medically backed salon services can help me achieve that celebrity like skin goal too.

Dr Nidhi & Nikhil Malhotra were kind enough to take me through their range of services that you can read more about on their website, they perform the Kardashian favourite Vampire Facial, to the still to be famous magical treatments for occasions as well as just good skin maintenance. They noted a lot of pointers regarding my eating habits, my current skincare regime and then came up with a custom made Medi-Facial for me. Unlike other skin treatment clinics, The Beautyworks makes a customised treatment plan as per each and every person’s need & requirement.

Owing to dehydration, my skin was suggested an oxygen blast, with a hydrating facial for sensitive skin. All in all the whole process took over and hour, where various tools, equipment, products were slathered on and cleaned off. Leaving my skin supple and fresh. Although there was no miracle effect immediately unlike other short term facials, this treatment kept my skin feeling this way for days after the medi-facial.

The technicians and doctor helped me create a new skincare regime and also prescribed the correct sunscreen, moisturiser and basic necessities to maintain te effects of the medi-facial.

For the first time in a long time, I now use a proper sunscreen, the right moisturiser and my skin feels as happy as ever, even without any trace of makeup.

Check out a full video on their treatments here.

‘Spa’rkle Treatment, reviewing the Charcoal Therapy from Heaven On Earth.

I’m quite sure you are aware of the whole Coal makes you shine scene, be it face washes to masks, hair care products, it’s proven that charcoal has some amazing benefits for our skin.

Aristo Spa at Double Tree by Hilton Chinchwad opens to a salon area and progresses to multiple treatment rooms, the Thai Massage, the individual therapy and the couple’s spa room. Unfortunately, they do not have a sauna or a steam area, but the shower rooms within the therapy rooms are quite nice and will not make you miss the steam/sauna if you take a hot shower! The spa attendants were incredibly helpful and friendly offering advice on treatments, products and ensuring that you enjoy your time. This makes you feel welcome and sets the tone for this relaxing spa environment. The Charcoal Therapy treatment that I went for includes a 45-minute soothing massage using a lush scrub, which is made by combining activated charcoal and yoghurt. Activated charcoal is charcoal that’s been purified, so it is designed to suck out the toxins and impurities for the skin. The Charcoal Therapy treatment that I went for included a 45-minute soothing massage using a lush scrub, which is made by combining activated charcoal and yoghurt. Activated charcoal is charcoal that’s been purified, so it is designed to suck out the toxins and impurities for the skin. Activated charcoal is known to help with tightening the pores of the skin and ease skin issues. The yoghurt helps replenish the moisture in the skin, therefore leaving the skin supple and revitalised with the feeling of freshness. Oh not to mention how baby soft and glow-y I felt all day after the amazing treatment.

Aristo Spa is part of the Heaven On Earth group which is one of Indias leading luxury wellness groups which exists across Maldives, Seychelles, Spain and Singapore, they boast of a strong presence in luxury hotels and resorts and airports as well.

img_9786

The massage room looked like a set up for guaranteed relaxation and smelled divine. The couple’s spa room was cosy and would be ideal to spend time with your beau.img_9788

If Charcoal is not your thing, they have wide variety to choose from aroma therapies, deep tissue but what intrigued me was the Thai Dry Massage, which includes a lot of stretches and other techniques without using oils and the cucumber body wrap; in which they use eucalyptus oils, aloe vera gel and other cooling agents. Perfect for the summers don’t you think?

I would recommend The Aristo Spa at Double Tree by Hilton, Chinchwad for anybody who would like to spend a relaxing day indulging at a spa, couple it with a brunch and you have a great day lined up. Plan a day out with your girls or just indulge in an hour or pure spa-rkle, you won’t regret it!

Would I visit again? Absolutely.

One Kurta Three Ways. Hacks for a serial outfit repeater. #StyleGameStrong

I have always sorta-kinda-been in denial about being a fashion blogger. In my head, these superstar girls I follow are true fashion bloggers, not me. Like I toh barely even get there. Until ta-da this post! So easy, you absolutely have to try it!

Merging the trends of maxi tops and fusion kurtas, my designer created this beautiful classic white kurta for me. The see through georgette and the sexy sleeves makes the bottom pop, with almost any kind of pairing. Be it palazzos, Patiala salwar, slim fit pants or even a skirt or lehenga. Wear it with a printed salwar to the next Ganpati pooja you attend, or pair it with your hot fit denims and sky high heels to impress you girls on your next brunch outing. Have a look at the images below and you’ll be surprised at how a simple investment can go a long long repeatable way.

#TrendSpotting Wedding Jewellery inspiration for the Winter Bride.

While hunting for an ideal spot to shoot the following look, my search finally ended at Zora, A Modern Indian Kitchen opened recently at Ishanya Mall, Pune. The interiors and the overall ambience is so classy I was thrilled to conduct a few shoots there for the blog. The digital gramophone, the vertical garden walls, the high bar, and the beautiful lights made my team’s stress levels go down as everything was already there!

Bridal Jewellery trends do stick to making statements while being classy and re-usable. Rathod Jewellers gave us the ultimate upgrade in the jewellery scene for the Winter Bride.

This beautiful layered set is a mesmerising combination of Polki, Gold, Pearls and Rubies. Paired with a maangtika and a contemporary diamond bracelet to go with it, I felt like a bride already.

These amazing pieces on me made me look like a dream amalgamation of Jodhabai & Mastani. Don’t you agree? If you are researching for your upcoming wedding, keep your eyes open to such Polki-Pearl-Rose Cut Diamond combinations, as it is rare and oh-so-beautiful. If you are a raging bridesmaid and has a few weddings to attend this season, investing in a pair of stunning danglers or maangtikka like this will have you sorted!

I also got my hands on this elegant outfit from Sonal Thakore, it’s pure white raw silk kurta with a very khadi-ish jacket, as much as I loved the jewellery and the whole done up look, let me tell you that the outfit in itself is an absolute stunner. I can’t wait to wear it out! While choosing outfits for weddings and gatherings we do tend to get lost in the array of happy hues, investing in a white wonder will be a good shift for all of us! Try it.

Love & Life Style

Ode-To-Saheli. This Friendships Day, it’s all about twinning with your BFF.

You know how we girls get about having the same top, or the same dress as anyone else. Literally, if a girl will walk past me on the road wearing the same dress as I own, I am instantly adding a mental note to go and burn the dress from my wardrobe and never wear it again. Wait, please tell me I am not the only one who does this.

I’m just going to assume that we all do get a little panic-y when we see others picking up similar stuff from racks to the trial rooms. I have even seen people dropping the outfits at the billing line cause someone else picked it. In frenemies too,oh-it-is the ultimate revenge to buy something just like hers and wear it before her. But, the whole scene is a 180 degree shift when it comes to my bestie.

My BFF is like a sister from another mister, so when I go shopping, I un-hesitantly pick two of a kind. And yes, sometimes we try and wear it separately but most days we wear it on the same day same time and totally slay with our twinning! We take on the risk of looking like band-walahs, but the attention and the cute ass pictures at the end of each twinning day are totally worth it. Have a look at my Ode-To-Saheli

One dress four ways. Easy tips for effortless style!

It’s a horrible thing we have started doing, this whole Instagramming and snap chatting OOTD pictures. It adds layers of doubt in the decision to wear an outfit again!

If it has a picture taken and uploaded somewhere, I tend to let the picture do it’s social media time and more before even considering wearing it again, and when I do, it must be with a completely different audience.

Stress.

In all that self-created drama, let’s look at wearing a simple maxi dress repeatedly and stylishly! If you have a plain dress you know you can do oh-so-much with it, but here is a dress I love and the print is quite unique which not only makes it amazing but also makes it so difficult to repeat!

Layering is everything:

No rocket science there, throwing on a shrug or a jacket you know will change the look drastically. These days girls are wearing t-shirts over maxi dresses and using the dress as skirts, go figure! And, I was hesitating to put on a sweatshirt over my dress even while freezing. Hmm. Jugni issues. Layering makes styling an outfit easy, play with lengths, fabrics, styles too.

IMG_3019 IMG_3022

Added a simple cotton shirt and tied it up at the waist, very art-class look feels nai?

IMG_3023-Edit

The big messy hair is all thanks to our ever so unpredictable monsoon weather. yes, I’m kind of Monica Geller-ish with my hair when it gets humid. IMG_3032-Edit

Keeping the accessories same, I tried a dress on dress. Denim over a cotton maxi might sound off but actually looked pretty cool. It not only changed the look of my maxi but also allowed me to wear my denim dress again. See the denim dress post here.

IMG_3048

IMG_3039

How about a semi-formal jacket? Spunk up your maxi dress look with a full close button up or zip up jacket and change your look completely!

IMG_3052

IMG_3062

Jewellery is everything! While trying to establish a particular look, the accessories you pair together really adds up to your look. I tried two different themes with dull gold and oxidised silver too. Keeping in mind the print of the maxi dress with those little coins can be turned into something ethnic, I liked how it added up. Do you?

Sunshine Girl: Should you invest in a bold coloured long dress? #HellYes

Whoever said we need to stick to basic colours for flowy dresses was completely wrong. Highly inspired from Sonam Kapoor’s NYE dress is my boat neck yellow wonder.

Although I haven’t worn it out yet, I’m hoping to inaugurate this one soon enough. In my head, I am IIFA green carpet ready, for a swanky brand launch, or even a bloggers event; obviously for family events and weddings too.

The bold statement that you will make by sporting a colour like this exudes confidence, poise and style like no one else around you. Don’t hesitate carrying this outfit in the day or night, all that matters is how you carry yourself. Believe and shine on firefly.

#MaaKaWardrobe Revisiting the classic saree!

From school and college farewells to debutante-like nights with the relatives or formal work events. If there is one thing that saves the day it has to be you mother’s saree. A dozen ways to drape it, so many types and forms, she has gone the whole 9 yards to fill her wardrobe with amazing pieces that you would kill to own.

Even if you are not the saree type, admit it that you have always admired mom in her gorgeous timeless sarees and how each of her old outfits have their own history. With the saree I have worn below, I felt like I was living mumma’s newlywed phase. More than 25 years old this is one of the first ever Satyapaul sarees of the family.

The modern newspaper print and the light flowy styling made it way ahead of its time and the perfect gift from Dad to Mom. #Pyaar It’s amazing how well it has been wrapped and covered and maintained till date. Bonus: It made me look like a spitting image of Mom. Check it out.

There is a lot of hype around the humble saree, it has an honest potential to get you ready and best looking for all kinds of events. With Sonam Kapoor’s wacky drapes, you could even wear it to brunch! Don’t hesitate trust in your #maakawardrobe and give one a chance.

P.S: No matter what you do, do not tear/burn/spill over your Mom’s saree.

All White, So bright. #SummerWeddings #MaaKaWardrobe

Still looking to add to your wedding wear collection? You absolutely must invest in an all white piece.

Be it an Anarkali, a pretty gown, a straight kurta or a lehenga. The possibilities to style an all white outfit are unimaginable. Here you will see my first time experimenting with an asymmetric Anarkali. The wow-factor remains the fact that it is all white and I can style it completely differently just by alternating add-ons.

Dupattas, earrings, makeup, footwear and other accessories are the real style quotient sometimes, hence details are everything. Pay close attention 😛

LMPL4855A bright stole/ dupatta like this one ended up being the game changer of my whole look. To balance that pop of colour I put on my gorgeous pink earrings by Tarksya, and added my multi-colour kolhapuri from Abba Shoes.

LMPL4856

Best part about creating the kurta was the fact that I had an old semi georgette saree lying around in the house until my designer from Ginni’s couture creations came up with this. We stuck to classic detailing with pearls and a hint of gold to go with the old saree border. Always believe in the power of #MaaKaWardrobe

LMPL4871

I feel so incomplete without my Mumma’s bindi, each time I wear Indian.

LMPL4894

Adding an entire layer of georgette over the old saree made the outfit more elegant and royal! Keeping royal in mind, I had to try on a look which stuck to ultimate classics and no bright added tones.

LMPL4912

Major Sonam Kapoor vibes were being felt with the styling of this look, also made me quite proud of myself.

If you are one of those who think white will enlarge your body shape or anything on the lines, kindly drop that silly idea and try this. Also, i really think i can dye this into a completely different shade someday and flaunt it all over again!

LMPL4927

Notice how the draping of the dupatta can also impact your look so greatly.

Pondicherry wich gal mithi mithi bol! A breakdown on South India’s traditional saree!

This is not a sponsored post, this is not a drill. This is a little informative and more entertaining than ever. Read on!

Jugni & Co founders recently took our first trip alone to Pondicherry! Yay! Bucket list is finally shorter! *phew* the pressure social media creates is immense nai? While we strutted around in the mini french colony that India boasts of it struck us to do a full post on the classic south Indian saree. And no, kanjeevaram is not the only types of saree they have. So many varieties, so many stories behind them, here is a breakdown on my favourite one!

The garment we are referring to is traditionally called the Mundum Neriyathum (or its modernized version –Kasavu Saari). The origin of Mundum Neriyathum can be traced back to third century BC when Shramana tradition was spread all over Kerala. Shramanas followed a simple lifestyle. They used to wear hand woven cotton cloths which is yellowish off-white in colour. The gold borders were added on later, when we spoke to locals we figured how this beauty has been worn to temples, weddings, special occasions and even in routine.

Have you ever noticed the traditional attires all across India, You can see that locals tends to wear fabrics with colour contrasting to the landscape of that region. For example, the colourful Rajasthani/ Kutchhi styles match the desert landscape of Rajasthan; or radiant traditional dress of Kashmiri women contrasting with the whitish landscape of Kashmir. Likewise, the off-white coloured Mundum Neriyathum contrast well with vivid landscape of Southern India!

Ok, I know we were not exactly in Kerela, but then again how often do we take a trip to the south and when would we get to do such a fun shoot? Then sprang in visuals of Sonam Kapoor dancing to Gal Mithi Mithi Bol, and the wedding scene from 2 States; and all i wanted was to try this look! Surprisingly, we got this ready saree for only INR435 and the readymade blouse for another INR 200. Holii stepped in to provide us with beautiful bags to complete this look.

Disclaimer: I don’t know much about the fabrics, sarees and authentic details about this trend. Points mentioned here are purely out of our little research 🙂

But, tell me; have you tried a traditional attire somewhere you travelled? Like the pahadi dressing up north, or the tea gardens inspired dressing, or anything that made you feel like doing a little happy dance? Also, wouldn’t you try on a saree like this one on your next occasion. I think it’s ideal for summer weddings too!
